If you are in an accident, your automobile insurance protects you against financial loss.   The policy is a contract between you and the insurance company, which states that if you pay your premium, the insurance company will cover losses incurred because of an accident. Collision covers damage to your auto and its equipment caused by a collision or upset. Comprehensive coverage pays for damage to your auto and its equipment not caused by collision or upset. Uninsured Motorist policies provide coverage when you are injured in an accident caused by someone else who has no insurance or not enough insurance to pay for your damages.
